Getting There: Accessible by TTC. Parking is limited.
Walk Details: A 3 hr, 6-8 km, linear, nature and heritage walk. Some stairs. Mostly unpaved and uneven surfaces with gentle slopes and some steep slopes.
Accessibility: There are stairs. The route may have mud and ice.
Washroom: At the beginning, along the way, and at the end.
Walk Description: We will be walking south along Main Street to and through Norwood Park, Cassels Ravine Park and north along Woodbine to Oakcrest Park. From there we will head north along Amroth Avenue to the Danforth, ending at the Woodbine Subway Station. This is a general nature walk, looking for birds, talking about plants and trees, with some of the history of the Toronto Golf Club’s first course, as well as the Gerrard Prairie and the Town of East Toronto.
What to bring: Water or thermos with hot drink, lunch or snack if desired, hat, mitts/gloves, warm clothes, field guide, binoculars. Icers (metal grips for shoes) may be helpful.
Other information: This is a public walk, one of a series held usually on the first Saturday of the month. The walk goes rain, snow, or shine, so dress for the weather. The pace is slow so dress warmly.
