TFN walks proceed rain or shine, but there are some conditions where a walk will be cancelled.
For the safety of all participants, outdoor outings will be cancelled for any of these reasons:
- Extreme rainfall or heavy snow
- Humidex of 40C or above
- Air quality health index (AQHI) greater than 10
- Thunderstorm prediction of 70% or higher or a Thunderstorm Warning from Environment Canada is issued for when the outing is occurring
- High winds (>70 km/hr) that could bring trees or tree limbs down
Outings could also be cancelled if:
- There is a Heat Alert or Smog Advisory from Environment Canada
- There is flooding or high-water along the route
- There is an unexpected dangerous situation or route closure
