TFN Outing Cancellation Policy

TFN walks proceed rain or shine, but there are some conditions where a walk will be cancelled.

For the safety of all participants, outdoor outings will be cancelled for any of these reasons:

Extreme rainfall or heavy snow
Humidex of 40C or above
Air quality health index (AQHI) greater than 10
Thunderstorm prediction of 70% or higher or a Thunderstorm Warning from Environment Canada is issued for when the outing is occurring
High winds (>70 km/hr) that could bring trees or tree limbs down

Outings could also be cancelled if:

There is a Heat Alert or Smog Advisory from Environment Canada
There is flooding or high-water along the route
There is an unexpected dangerous situation or route closure

Toronto is situated on the Land within the Toronto Purchase, Treaty 13, the traditional and treaty Lands of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. This territory is also part of the Dish with One Spoon Wampum, a covenant agreement between Anishinaabeg, Haudenosaunee, Wendat peoples and allied nations to peaceably share the land and all its resources. Today, the Land is home to peoples of numerous nations. We are all grateful to have the opportunity to continue to care for and share the beauty of this Land.
